USCIS Announces Increase in Premium Processing Fee from December 2, 2019

USCIS Announces Increase in Premium Processing Fee from December 2, 2019

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services recently announced that as of Dec. 2, 2019, it will increase the fee to request premium processing to $1,440 from the current fee of $1,410 for Form I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker, and Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker.

USCIS noted that the increase is in accordance with the inflation from time of implementation of the premium processing fee in June 2001 to August 2019, based on the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers (CPI-U). USCIS last increased the fee in 2018.

What is Premium Processing?

Premium processing is an optional service currently authorized for certain petitioners filing Forms I-129 or I-140. By paying the Premium Processing fee, petitioners are able to request a 15-day processing time for these forms instead of the standard processing time which can sometimes take from 8 months to a year.
