Withdrawal of the OPT (Optional Practical Training) Application for F-1 student.

|

F-1 Students can withdraw their pending OPT applications after it has been filed with USCIS and before approval. The student must submit an original signed letter stating that he wants to withdraw his OPT application. The student must include his I-765 receipt notice number in the letter. The letter should be sent by overnight mail or certified mail, in order that the student will have a proof of delivery of his letter to USCIS. Furthermore, the DSO should cancel the request for OPT in SEVIS system and send an e-mail to vsc.schools@dhs.gov with a scanned copy of the students signed withdrawal request.

The Vermont Service Center (VSC) will not cancel and/or withdraw an approved OPT if the start date has passed.
