The skilled worker sub-category is much more desirable than the other worker sub-category because the latter generally has a much longer backlog than the former.

An applicant in the skilled worker sub-category must have a full-time, permanent job offer requiring at least two years of training or work experience.  Note that no university degree is required, although the applicant’s relevant education may be considered training for the position.
