This category has 5,000 visas per year, and an applicant must demonstrate the following to qualify:

 

  1. Employed by or on behalf of the U.S. in Iraq after March 20, 2003 for at least one year;
  2. Provided faithful and valuable service to the U.S., as shown in a positive recommendation or evaluation from the employee’s supervisor and approved by the Chief of Mission;
  3. Has experienced or are experiencing ongoing serious threats because of employment by the U.S.;
  4. Eligible for an immigrant visa; and
  5. Admissible to the U.S., but do not need to prove that he/she can support themselves in the U.S.

 

This category allows the applicant’s spouse and children to accompany the applicant to the U.S.  Note that surviving spouses and children of applicants who died during the application process are also eligible to come to the U.S.
