Blanket L Visa Processing Moves to Chennai

On November 1, 2011, the US Consulate in Chennai announced that starting December 1, 2011, Blanket L visa processing will be moved to the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai, India. The US Consulate General in Chennai will become the only acceptance center in India for all intra-company blanket L transfers. The US Embassy in New Delhi, as well as the US Consulates in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, will no longer accept or process applications for this visa category. The blanket L category includes specialized knowledge professionals, executives, and managers. Visa applications for spouse/children visas (L2) and individual L visas (L1B and L1A) will still be processed at all posts in India. This includes the New Delhi Embassy, and the Consulates in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Please be aware, all other visa processing procedures remain unchanged. Additionally, this does not affect current laws or policies regarding visas for India companies.
